The largest corrosion inspection project using the Pulsed Eddy Current method

Iran Standard & Quality Inspection Co., using Pulsed Eddy Current technology for corrosion inspection beneath insulation, will carry out the first major project of its kind nationwide.
According to the Deputy of Inspection of Goods and Equipment at ISQI (Iran Standard & Quality Inspection), following the announcement of the results of the corrosion inspection tender beneath the insulation of the liquefied gas plant using the Pulsed Eddy Current eddy current testing method, the Iran Quality and Standard Inspection Company managed to be selected as the contractor for the implementation of the largest corrosion detection contract using the Pulsed Eddy Current method. Subsequently, the purchase of the PEC device has been put on the agenda of this company.
Yousef Bagherian continued : “This device is manufactured by two companies, Eddyfi Technology and Maxwell NDT. Due to the existing sanctions, the process of purchasing and transferring it to Iran faced significant challenges. Eventually, in August of this year, the desired equipment was imported, and the implementation of the mentioned project commenced. In the coming days, with the transfer of this device to Aghajari City, the project will gain more momentum.”
Referring to the old methods of this inspection in Iran, he continued: “There is only one other device of this equipment in the country, which has been in the possession of the Steel Inspection and Testing Company and has mainly been used in projects such as aircraft bodies, and so on.”
It is worth mentioning that the pulsed eddy current (PEC) method is a non-destructive testing method and a global solution for rapid screening corrosion assessment. It is used by a pulsed eddy current device on insulated or enclosed ferromagnetic materials.
