Weights and Scales Laboratory was launched in 2020 with the aim of accurately measuring the mass and dimensions of cars. Since the determination of car mass is one of the requirements of car emission tests, it is possible to perform this measurement in the laboratory.
The following tests are performed in this laboratory:
- Testing mass and dimensions of cars
- Vehicle identification plate test
- Testing the rear license plate position of cars
Measuring the mass and dimensions of cars
This test is performed in order to measure the mass and dimensions of passenger cars, cargo cars and semi-trailers. To measure the mass of the vehicle, first the car is placed on a completely flat scale and the total mass of the car and the distribution of the mass on the axles are measured and recorded according to the requirements stated in the INSO-EU 1230 standard. After measuring the mass of the car to measure the dimensions of the vehicle, the car is first placed on a flat place, then the length, width and height of the car are measured using a laser meter and reflective plates and the relevant holders based on the positions specified in the INSO-EU 1230 standard. It is registered.
Measuring vehicle identification plates
The car identification plate standard with national standard number 6489 is one of the 85 mandatory national standards regarding cars and motor vehicles. The purpose of this test is to check and measure the characters in the identification plate and identification number engraved on the car, as well as their installation location and make it uniform for all cars. A sample of a car whose identification plate is installed on the tested vehicle and the identification number is engraved, is visited in terms of the location and location of installation, and then the shape and height of the characters on the identification plate and the vehicle are measured and recorded.
Measuring the installation position of the rear license plate of cars
The standard for the installation position of the rear license plate of cars with the national standard number 6491 is one of the 85 mandatory national standards regarding motor vehicles. The purpose of this test is to check and measure the place of installation of police license plate and to make this space uniform for all cars. In the first step of this test, the desired vehicle sample is placed on a flat surface, and then the dimensions of the rear license plate space, the height of the upper edge and the lower edge, the location of the license plate and the corresponding angles are measured and recorded.
