Crane & Lifting Equipment Inspection
## 1. Service Introduction
Iran Standard and Quality Inspection Company (ISQI) provides technical and safety inspection services for various types of cranes, lifting equipment, and lifting accessories, with the aim of identifying defects, examining performance, and assessing compliance with technical and safety requirements.
These services include reviewing equipment documents and specifications, inspecting structural and mechanical components, examining control and safety systems, and conducting or supervising the required functional and load tests.
The inspection scope is determined according to the type of equipment, rated capacity, installation and operating conditions, maintenance history, and applicable standards.
## 2. Scope of Services
– Review of technical documents, manufacturer specifications, and rated capacity of the equipment
– Review of inspection, maintenance, and repair records
– Inspection of structural components and examination of corrosion, deformation, and visible damage
– Inspection of welds, bolts, pins, and accessible connections
– Inspection of lifting and traveling mechanisms
– Inspection of hooks, hook latches, drums, sheaves, and wire ropes
– Inspection of brakes and load stopping and holding equipment
– Examination of the operation of limiters and protective systems, according to the type of equipment
– Inspection of lifting accessories and verification of their identification specifications
– Conducting or supervising the required functional and load tests
– Conducting non-destructive testing at designated points
– Recording defects and providing reports and corrective recommendations
## 3. Specialized Tests and Controls
Tests are selected based on the type of equipment, manufacturer’s instructions, and applicable standard.

The test load and conditions for conducting the test are not the same for all equipment and must be determined based on the relevant standard, manufacturer’s instructions, and the technical condition of the equipment.

The reference standard must be selected according to the type of equipment; inspection requirements for cranes, forklifts, and lifting accessories are not necessarily the same.
## 5. ISQI Experience and Technical Knowledge
Inspection of lifting equipment requires simultaneous assessment of the condition of the structure, mechanical components, control systems, and operating conditions.
In this service, technical inspection and non-destructive testing knowledge is applied alongside an understanding of the safety and performance requirements of the equipment, so that identified defects can be assessed in relation to their role in lifting operations.

## 8. ISQI Approach
In the inspection of lifting equipment, the apparent condition of components alone is not sufficient to assess the condition of the equipment. The performance of mechanisms, condition of protective equipment, permissible capacity, and conditions of use must also be taken into consideration.
ISQI’s approach is based on identifying defects affecting safety, documenting the results, and providing clear corrective recommendations. The load test is also only one part of the assessment process and does not replace component inspection and safety system checks.
