Corrosion & Asset Integrity
### 1. Service Introduction
Iran Standard and Quality Inspection Company (ISQI) provides specialized services for corrosion monitoring, assessment of damage mechanisms, and management of equipment and pipeline integrity, with the aim of supporting safe and reliable operations.
These services, by integrating design and operational information, inspection records, non-destructive testing results, and engineering analyses, help identify vulnerable areas and determine inspection, monitoring, and repair requirements.
The scope of services can range from thickness measurement and corrosion mapping to remaining life assessment, fitness-for-service assessment, and risk-based inspection planning.
### 2. Scope of Services
| Collecting and reviewing design, material, and operating condition information |
| Reviewing inspection and repair records and changes in service conditions |
| Identifying and assessing potential damage mechanisms |
| Establishing or reviewing corrosion circuits, according to the project scope |
| Establishing and reviewing Condition Monitoring Locations (CML/TML) |
| Performing thickness measurement and monitoring the thickness reduction trend |
| Preparing and analyzing Corrosion Mapping |
| Assessing corrosion rates based on valid and comparable data |
| Estimating remaining life within the validity range of the data and calculation method |
| Conducting Fitness-for-Service assessment |
| Developing or reviewing Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs |
| Providing recommendations for inspection, monitoring, repair, or further assessment |
| Preparing and updating equipment integrity documentation |
### 3. Specialized Methods and Tools
| Damage Mechanism Assessment | Identifying potential damage mechanisms based on material and service conditions |
| CML/TML Planning | Selecting appropriate locations for condition and thickness monitoring |
| UT Thickness Measurement | Measuring thickness and examining the trend of changes |
| Corrosion Mapping | Determining the distribution and extent of metal loss |
| MFL | Screening areas with metal loss in suitable applications, along with the necessary supplementary examination |
| IRIS / Eddy Current | Assessing tube condition according to material and damage mechanism |
| Remaining Life Assessment | Estimating remaining life considering the assumptions and limitations of the analysis |
| Fitness-for-Service | Assessing the acceptability of existing damage under specified service conditions |
| Risk-Based Inspection | Prioritizing inspections based on the probability and consequences of failure |
Selecting a tool or method alone is not sufficient; data quality, inspection coverage, and measurement limitations must be taken into account in the final analysis.
### 4. Standards and Technical References
| API 571 | Identification of damage mechanisms in fixed equipment within the scope of the standard |
| API 580 | Principles and requirements of Risk-Based Inspection programs |
| API 581 | Risk-Based Inspection methodology |
| API 579-1 / ASME FFS-1 | Fitness-for-Service assessment |
| API 510 | Inspection and assessment of pressure vessels |
| API 570 | Inspection and assessment of piping systems |
| API 653 | Inspection and assessment of storage tanks covered by the standard |
| ASME B31.3 | Process piping requirements within the scope of application |
| Relevant AMPP Standards | Technical references for corrosion according to the issue under review |
| Employer’s Integrity Management Guidelines | Specific requirements for data recording, analysis, and planning |
The selection of the assessment level and analysis method is carried out according to the type of damage, equipment criticality, data adequacy, and project requirements.
### 5. ISQI Experience and Technical Expertise
The capabilities described for ISQI in the inspection of fixed equipment, thickness reduction monitoring, Corrosion Mapping, and non-destructive testing provide the basis for delivering services related to corrosion and equipment integrity.
In this field, field data must be linked to process conditions and damage mechanisms so that inspection results can be transformed into actionable recommendations for operation and maintenance.
The technical basis of these services rests on three pillars:
Valid Data | Engineering Analysis | Condition- and Risk-Based Decision-Making

### 8. ISQI Approach
In corrosion and integrity management, the objective is not merely to measure thickness or record damage; rather, it is to understand the cause and progression of damage and assess its impact on the equipment’s operating conditions.
ISQI’s approach is based on linking inspection data, damage mechanism analysis, and the employer’s decision-making needs. Remaining life estimates and Fitness-for-Service assessment results are also provided together with the assumptions, limitations, and validity conditions and do not constitute a guarantee of equipment life.
