Road Test
Road testing of light vehicles began in 2002, following a resolution issued by the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade to investigate and evaluate vehicle defects over a distance of 30,000 kilometers. The testing was conducted in two sections: an urban cycle test and a road test, under all weather and climatic conditions across the country, in the form of one-day and multi-day tests (long-duration tests). In 2024, it was implemented under the title of the *Road Testing and Durability Guideline for Light and Heavy Vehicles*. Iran Standard and Quality Inspection Company, as the first inspection company, conducts road tests for light vehicles.
Given the importance customers place on vehicle quality and their particular sensitivity to identifying functional and dynamic defects, road testing is considered an effective method for evaluating vehicle durability. This is because the test makes it possible to evaluate the vehicle under different road conditions and in different seasons, allowing the performance systems and durability of various vehicle components to be examined after extended operation and mileage.
Considering the importance and type of defects observed in each vehicle, and based on the road testing standard, vehicles are classified into five quality levels according to the number and severity of the defects observed: **Very Good, Good, Acceptable, Minimally Acceptable, and Unacceptable.**
Since the company began its activities in this field, 206 vehicles have been tested to date. The results have included the identification of safety and functional defects leading to Breakdown, as well as the identification of a significant number of important and fundamental defects.
