Conducting Focus Group Sessions
Focus Group Sessions are one of the specialized methods of qualitative market research, conducted with the aim of gaining an in-depth understanding of customers’ attitudes, emotions, hidden needs, and experiences regarding products and services. Unlike quantitative research, which seeks to measure and generalize results, this method helps organizations identify the reasons behind customers’ behaviors, choices, and decisions.
Many factors influencing purchase decisions and customer satisfaction are perceptual and emotional in nature and cannot be identified solely through standardized questionnaires. For example, a customer may state that the reason for their dissatisfaction is the quality of the vehicle, but in in-depth discussions, it may become clear that the main factor is an inappropriate dealership experience, weak after-sales services, lack of trust in the brand, or the quality of communication with employees.
The Focus Group implementation process includes determining the research objective, selecting participants, designing the discussion guide, conducting the session by a specialized moderator, and analyzing qualitative data. Participants are selected based on criteria such as vehicle type, ownership history, service experience, demographic characteristics, and purchasing behavior.
In these sessions, topics such as the vehicle ownership experience, evaluation of a new product, reasons for choosing or not choosing a brand, analysis of customer dissatisfaction, evaluation of advertising messages, and identification of customer expectations are examined.
The data obtained from the sessions are analyzed using methods such as qualitative coding and Thematic Analysis to extract behavioral patterns and customers’ hidden needs.
The output of this service includes identifying hidden customer needs, analyzing emotions and attitudes, extracting Pain Points, evaluating new ideas, product development recommendations, and customer experience improvement recommendations.
Conducting Focus Groups alongside quantitative studies helps organizations gain a more accurate understanding of customers and make marketing, product development, and customer experience management decisions based on market realities.
