Laboratory for Emissions and Fuel Consumption Testing of Light-Duty Gasoline Vehicles

The Vehicle Safety and Emissions Testing Laboratory Complex was inaugurated in May 2005 in the presence of the Head of the Department of Environment and the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade. The purpose of establishing this complex was to control and monitor emissions from mobile sources, including light-duty vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles, and motorcycles.

This center, holding certificates of accreditation issued by regulatory bodies, including the Department of Environment and the National Standards Organization, as well as an ISO 17025 certificate from the National Accreditation Center of Iran, and utilizing advanced equipment and experienced and skilled personnel, provides its services as an independent laboratory trusted by regulatory organizations in various fields.

The passenger car emissions and fuel consumption section consist of two laboratories at Euro 5 and Euro 6 standard levels and is equipped with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) two-axle chassis dynamometer, with a capacity to perform more than 5,000 tests per year. It is capable of conducting emissions tests on light-duty gasoline and gas-fueled vehicles, including M1, M2, N1, and N2 categories.

Light-Duty Vehicle Laboratory up to Euro 5 Standard Level

Laboratory Features:

• Having specialized and skilled personnel
• Supplying laboratory gases, including calibration and consumable gases, from reputable foreign sources
• Holding a Collaborating Laboratory Certificate from the General Directorate of Standards
• ISO 17025 certificate from the National Accreditation Center of Iran (NACI)
• Holding an accredited laboratory certificate from the Department of Environment

In this laboratory, emissions and fuel consumption tests of light-duty gasoline and gas-fueled vehicles are conducted in accordance with the methods specified in ECE R83 and ECE R101 standards, up to Euro 5 level.

Tests Available at the Passenger Car Emissions and Fuel Consumption Laboratory:

• Type I Test: Measurement of exhaust gas emissions from the vehicle
• Type II Test: Measurement of carbon monoxide emissions at idle speed
• Type III Test: Emission of gases from the crankcase and sump
• Type IV Test: Determination of evaporative emissions from the fuel system of gasoline vehicles
• On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Test: Evaluation of the vehicle’s emissions diagnostic system
