Elevator Components Laboratory

Elevator Components Laboratory

The Elevator Components Laboratory was inaugurated in 2006, simultaneously with the development of four national standards in the field of elevator safety components by the officials of the National Standardization Organization at the time, with the aim of providing services to component manufacturers and also playing an effective role in improving the quality and safety of the use of domestically manufactured components.

Currently, the tests that can be performed in this laboratory include the following:

  • Elevator sliding door lock
  • Elevator hinged door lock
  • Elevator progressive safety gear
  • Elevator governor
  • Elevator buffer
  • Rope sockets of elevator steel wire ropes
  • Elevator instantaneous (instantaneous-type) safety gear
  • Elevator door frame with a glass panel or fully glazed door / glass cabin enclosure

Governor Testing Machine

According to National Standard No. 7988, this machine must have the capability to measure the speed and tensile force of the governor. These capabilities are as follows:

  • Capability to measure the governor speed during the operation of the electrical system
  • Capability to measure the governor speed during the operation of the mechanical system
  • Capability to measure the tensile force in the steel wire rope at the time of governor engagement

Hinged and Sliding Door Lock Testing Machine

This machine has been designed and manufactured in such a way that it can test landing door locks in accordance with National Standard No. 7985 as follows:

  1. a) Endurance and circuit-breaking capability tests
    b) Static and dynamic tests
    c) Electrical tests

Elevator Safety Gear and Buffer Test Tower in Accordance with National Standards 7987 and 7986

The structure of this 12-meter-high tower has been designed and constructed appropriately, taking into account wind and earthquake forces, as well as the forces resulting from tests of elevator safety gears and buffers for elevators weighing 4,500 kilograms (the combined weight of the load and the car), at a speed of up to 3 meters per second.

This test tower is capable of performing one-way and two-way safety gear tests and recording the test acceleration and the displacements that occur.

Using the test tower equipment, various types of buffers, including energy-accumulating buffers, hydraulic buffers, and non-linear buffers, can be tested.

Measurable Quantities for Buffers

Using the measuring equipment of the test tower, the mass required for complete compression (in kilograms), the amount of complete spring compression (in centimeters), the permissible buffer application speed (in meters per second), the maximum permissible mass (in kilograms), the minimum permissible force (in kilograms), and deceleration (in meters per square second) can be measured.
